Carl W. Ladner “Ty”, age 90 of Midland, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at his home on Ladner Parkway of which he developed. The son of the late Basil and Eva (Gould) Ladner was born in Detroit on October 23, 1931. When he was 12 years old, Carl moved to Beaverton where he finished his education while he enjoyed playing football and basketball at Beaverton High School. He served his country honorably with the United States Navy and was a member of VFW Post 165 in Midland.
Carl worked with the Dow Chemical Company for 44 years in Stock and Receiving. Outside of work, Carl coordinated blood drives, volunteered at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, and coached little league baseball. He enjoyed going to Big Boy and McDonalds for many years, to be in the company of his close friends. Carl had a passion for working in his yard, above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Carl married the former Joyce Taylor on April 11, 1953 and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage before his passing. Together, they raised their children, Greg Ladner of Monroe, MI, Kim Ladner of Midland, Shelly (Rick) Dougherty of Traverse City, Kevin (Norma) Ladner of Highland Ranch, CO, David Ladner of Pinckney, Cathy Ladner of Midland, and Brad (Michele) Ladner of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Christopher Dougherty, Josh (Jenny) Ladner, Brittany (Chase) Dicken, Chelsea Ladner (Brett Marlin), Lindsay (Emmett) Mercier, Branden Ladner, Logan Ladner, Serena Ladner, Ashley Ladner, Sophia Sherman, and Sara Sherman; 4 great grandchildren, sister; Annie Frey of Southfield; and niece, Sharon Frey.
