Carl L. “Papoo” Wilson, 96, formerly of Anderson, passed away on February 10, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born on September 8, 1916 in Highland County, Ohio and resided most of his life in Anderson/Shirley area.
He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors as a Tool & Die Maker after 38 years of service. He was a member of Pendleton Lions Club, and he enjoyed fishing, coaching baseball, gardening, playing horseshoes, and in his later years, playing cards. He also loved to spend time with his family.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Joyce Kenneth Smith of Rome City, IN, grandchildren, Timothy Nancy Smith of Wawaka, IN, Stephen Smith of Greenwood, Karyn Mike Mercer of Wawaka, IN, great-grandchildren, Stephen Smith, Angella Smith, Tabitha Smith, Gabrielle Smith, Chaz Mercer, and Carlee Mercer, great-great-grandchildren, Lukas, Alex, Bradlee, Derek, and Maelyn “Tadpole”.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Louella Smalley Wilson, father, Marshall John Wilson, and his wife, Lola June Wilson.
