Carl L. Gellise

Mr. Carl Louis Gellise, of Bay City, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at The Carriage House of Bay City, age 82. The son of the late Levi Joseph and Regina Marie (Savage) Gellise, he was born on October 29, 1932 in Bay City. Carl was a combat veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict and was a Bronze Star recipient. He retired from Bay City Chevrolet and was a member of U.A.W. Local 362.
On May 2, 1953 Carl married the former Janet Del Lantz and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2002. He is survived by their seven children, Sue (Art) Cornejo of Kawkawlin, Mark (Bobbi) Gellise of Bay City, Paul Gellise of Essexville, Mary Gellise of Essexville, Jane (Jeff) Klender of Bay City, Amy Fritz of Essexville and Joan (Tony) Augusti of Maryland; 14 grandchildren, Joel, Adam, Carla, Marc, Jodi, Traci, Joshua, John Carl, Leslie, Mollie, Shannon, Alan, Aaron and Jacob; many great-grandchildren and counting; his sister, Sr. Mary Yvonne Gellise, RSM of Ypsilanti; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Gellise of Bay City and Ruth Hall of Florida. Carl was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Kerbleski; a son-in-law, Jim Fritz; two brothers, Norman Gellise and Virgil (Lucille) Gelisse; a sister, Yvonne Russell Freel; and a special nephew, David Russell.
