Carl Kinney
1928 – 2012
Carl Kinney, 83, of Star, Idaho, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 of natural causes. He was born in Carter County, KY on December 28, 1928.
He joined the United States Navy in 1945 at age 17 and was honorably discharged on December 2, 1947. He met and married Ethel Miller in Kentucky and moved to Boise, Idaho in 1948. There they had three children, Kenneth, John and Carleen. He worked with the Local Laborers Union as a Business Agent and then the National Laborers Union as an International Business Agent. He retired when he was 52. They loved to travel around the United States and loved gambling in Jackpot, NV with special friends Hershel and Louise. He especially enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his daughter Carleen Burril and husband Ron of Garden Valley, son John Kinney and wife Dot of Kuna, grandson Troy Burril and wife Jennifer of Star, grandson Clinton Burril and wife Gwen of Garden Valley, granddaughter Jessica Kinney of Portland, granddaughter Sarah Enzminger and husband Travis of Middleton, granddaughter Emily Davis and husband Adam of Portland, grandson Nathan Kinney of Kuna, grandson Chris Kinney and wife Jennifer of Boise, granddaughter Becky Kinney of Bend, OR, great grandchildren, Molly Burril, Houston Burril, Porter Burril, Grady Kinney, Cole Kinney and Jack Kinney. He is preceded in death by his wife Ethel Kinney, son Kenneth Kinney and brothers Clarence, Warren, Orville, and Ellis.
The family would like to thank Harrison’s Hope Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Carl and his late wife Ethel over the last two years, especially Monica, Jerry, Brenda, Ashley, and Joanna. A special thank you to Dot Kinney for her care of Carl over the last few months.
