Carl John Weinzetl, 73 passed away February 22, 2014 peacefully, quick, and without pain at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

Carl was born March 20, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana at home to Carl A. and Pauline A. (Tschida) Weinzetl. He was a lifelong resident except when attending school and in the service.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Kathleen and a brother-in-law, John T. Lentz.

Survivors include his wife Mary Sue Weinzetl; sister, Marguerite (Frank) Buck, Niece Phemie Dandashli, her children, Ida and Omar; cousins; a number of lifelong dear friends, “Buds” and a lot of very good friends. He loved them all dearly. Also, his beloved canine, buddy Tanner.

Carl graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1957. He served as a corpsman in the United States Navy and Fleet Marines from 1957 to 1961 in San Diego and Hawaii. He then attended Marian College, Indianapolis, graduating in 1965.

On August 14, 1965, Carl married Mary Sue Lentz at St. Pius X Church in Granger Indiana.

He retired after 30 year of truck driving from local #710 Chicago and #364 South Bend.

Carl was an avid reader, enjoyed Notre Dame sports, and socializing with friends and family. He was known for his generosity and main Hobby helping everyone he could. Carl was and is loved by all.

A heartfelt thank you to special neighbors for all their help; Dr. R. Ansari and his entire staff at Michiana Hematology Oncology; and the staff of the Oncology Floor at Memorial Hospital. Loved you all! Special thanks to the ER staff and Chaplain at Memorial for the gentle and dignified care they gave Carl at the time of his passing.
