Carl G. Schneider, age 86, of Orange, CT, passed away in Scottsdale, AZ, surrounded by his two loving daughters and sons-in-law. Born on August 28, 1925 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles and Catherine Reuter Schneider.

He is survived by his daughter Joanna and husband Larry Hagan of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter Catherine and husband John Baber of Rio Rancho, NM, son Stephen and wife Ellen Schneider of Oxford, CT, daughter-in-law Nancy Schneider of Oxford, CT, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Jeanette Kaulfers of Midlothian, VA. He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Victoria in 2011, his son Fredric of Oxford, CT in 2010, and brother John of Clark, NJ in 2000.

Carl graduated valedictorian from St. Benedict’s H.S. (Newark, NJ) and was provided a full-scholarship from the US Navy during WWII to attend Villanova University (Philadelphia, PA). He graduated in 1946 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He worked for Alcoa (Chicago, Ill), US Rubber (Naugatuck, CT), and Robertshaw Controls (Milford, CT). At Robertshaw, he helped develop several special bellows; one used in a prototype of the first artificial heart, one for commercial fire extinguishing systems (ceiling type), and one used in the space suits for the Gemini astronauts. Later, he worked at Sikorsky Aircraft (Stratford, CT), and retired as a Drafting Professor from Waterbury State Technical College (now Naugatuck Community College) in 1990.
