Carl E. Nolton, 83, Anderson, died October 9, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born January 4, 1926 in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Anderson. He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and occupied Japan.

He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and other medals, and was a member of the American Legion in Frankton. He retired as an exchange repairman from Indiana Bell. Mr. Nolton spent 20 years playing softball at Shadyside Park. He loved to fish and was proud of building his own beautiful pond.

He was a member and past president of the local Communication Workers of America. Additionally, he was a member and past deacon of the Elm Grove Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 wonderful years, Doris M. Hawkins Nolton; son, David L. Nolton & wife Debra of Poland; two granddaughters and husbands, Tommy Nolton and Michael Todd of Anderson and Miranda Nolton and Reggie Ward of Noblesville; three beloved great-grandsons, Zachary Michael Todd, Andrew Michael Todd and Caleb Justice Ward; three sisters-in-law, Gweneth Nolton, Faye Armstrong and Mary Jo Tatro; great friend, Bill Brobston and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jon L. Nolton; parents, Ovidia Harless Nolton and James William Nolton; two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Nolton chose to be cremated. There will be no viewing or services at his time. He was a strong supporter of the Christian Center in Anderson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Center; 625 Main Street; Anderson, IN 46016.
