Carl ‘Dean’ (Bumgardner) Black, age 72, of Georgetown, KY, passed away to her heavenly home on May 13, 2017, at her residence at The Willows at Citation in Lexington, KY.
Born October 2, 1944, in Fleming County, she was the daughter of the late Carl Bumgardner and Monnie (Lambert) Bumgardner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Lou Jean Bumgardner, and sister, Betty Jo Matthews.
Dean is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Black, Jr., whom she married on January 15, 1965; her children, Barbara (Patrick) Farley of Georgetown, Michael (Angie) Black of Lexington, Douglas (Shawna) Black of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Jessica Farley, Kara Farley, John-Michael Black, Tyler Black, Tanner Black, Truett Black, Shannon Powell, Justin Powell; great grandchildren, Rylei Powell, Ashlin Powell, Hailey Powell, Austin Powell.
She is also survived by her brother, Vernon (Bud) Bumgardner; her sisters, Marilyn Martin, Martha (Skeeter) Waltz, Sue (Gary) Razor; and extended family and many friends.
Dean retired from Toyota Safety Shoe Store in 2004 where she was the manager. Dean was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, painting and sewing.
