Carl Albert Lund

Carl A. Lund passed away on June 25, 2016 in Ogden, Utah and the world is a little less sunny. He was one of those rare people whom everybody liked. Carl set a high standard for those who knew him -honest, diligent, and generous. He was very proud of his working life in retail and as a gentleman farmer.

He was born in Plain City, Utah on October 5, 1918 to Heber C. and Alta (Martin) Lund. Carl served in combat zones in World War II, surviving a harrowing attack by U-boats on his way overseas. After the war, he met the love of his life, Betty Fuller, and married her in the Salt Lake Temple on November 1, 1946. He and Betty enjoyed more than 68 years of marriage until Betty passed away in May 2015. They were a great couple, truly suited to each other. Their last years were spent in Ogden, returning there in 2011 after retiring to Tucson, Arizona in 1994.

Two things were of utmost importance to Carl – his family and his faith. Worldly things had not much sway over him. He was focused on doing what he could to make the world a better place for his children and grandchildren. No one was ever disappointed in Carl. He was a good, decent person who could always be counted on to do the right thing. He proved that over and over again and enjoyed the respect and love of all who were lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his five children, Carleen, Larry, Suzanne, Wendy, and Shari; his 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
