Carl A. Blake age 96, of Ashland, died Friday October 14, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Home.  He was born September 27, 1915 in Paulding Co., Ohio, the son of Ira James and Mary M. (Knisley) Blake.  Mr. Blake had been a resident of Ashland over 50 years.  He had been the Owner and Operator of the Carl Blake Construction Company which specialized in building homes.  He was a veteran of the US Army for his service during WWII, where he received a Bronze star and Purple Heart.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 88.  Mr. Blake was an avid fisherman, enjoying his trips to Canada.  He also enjoyed his family trips to Florida and was always happy to help his son’s on projects.

 

On April 16, 1947 Carl married Vivian (Gorham) Blake who survives.  Also surviving are his sons, Jeffery (Velma) Blake of Ashland, Michael (Joanie) Blake of Warren, Ohio,  Kevin (Debbie) Blake of Cincinnati; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; along with his sisters, Ada Fisher and Almeda (Paul) Hoerner both of Kendallville, Indiana.

Mr. Blake was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sister.
