Candida Cabanacan Yazar was 103 when she passed away in her home on Thursday, March 24th. Born in Leyte, Philippines, Candida lived in Pandacan, a district of Manila for over 50 years. She moved to New York City in 1976. Candida lived in Leonia, Garfield and Hackensack before settling in Hawthorne where she lived for the past 22 years.
Candida was married Roman Yazar in 1930,he preceded her in death April 3, 1975. They were married for 46 wonderful years. Candida was a homemaker who raised 8 children. In her later years, she cared for her grandchildren and was affectionately known as Grandma.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Lucrecia Ponferrada, Romualdo (Maria) Yazar, Alicia (Virgilio) Agno, Erlinda Yazar, Rosario (Hermingildo) Mojica, Romeo Yazar, and Roman Yazar Jr.
