Senior Master Sergeant (Ret.) Calvin Coolidge Evans, 86, of Huntsville went to be with the Lord at his home early Sunday morning June 12, 2011. Born in 1925 in Springfield, Ohio, he enlisted in the Army in 1943 at the age of 18. SMSgt. Evans served in WWII, Korea, and two tours in Vietnam retiring from the Air force after 26 years of service. During his military career he received two Bronze Star Medals and numerous other meritorious service honors. Following his retirement from the armed forces, SMSgt. Evans worked for 12 years in maintenance at Humana Hospital as well as spending 12 additional years at the historic Huntsville Depot where he drove the trolley and served as a tour guide before retiring at the age of 79. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Charlotte Evans and his children, Tim Evans (Sybil), Pat Goughnour, Mike Evans (Nikki), Ted Evans (Denise), Steve Kendrick (Margie), Stanley Kendrick (Henrietta), Scott Kendrick (Linda), and Beth Gilliam (Jamie). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
