Calvin “Rick” Richards, 86, of Newnan, formerly of Melbourne, FL died Wednesday, October 12, 2011. He was born August 20, 1925 in Whitesburg, GA to the late Reuben Raymond Richards & Dorothy Leach Richards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Richards.
Mr. Richards served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII in the Pacific and was on Okinawa when the Japanese surrendered. After the war, he began a successful career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. While with MetLife, he lived in Germany for many years.
He was truly a man of travels and spoke three different languages, enjoyed scuba diving, golf, and was an avid card player.
