Caira “Kay” Cook Measday passed away Dec. 4, 2011 at the Sierra Health Care Center in T or C, NM. She was a former resident of Deming, NM. She was born June 28, 1918 in Albuquerque, NM. Kay graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1935 and attended UNM and Western School for Private Secretaries for the next two years.
She was then employed by the Clinton P. Anderson Insurance Agency and later worked for him in Washington D.C. in various capacities. She also worked for Senator Dennis Chavez. From 1953 till 1961 she was employed by P.F. McCanna, Inc. in Albuquerque. Her secretarial career spanned 33 years. Kay’s most enjoyable job, however, was being a Foster Grandmother for 14 years in the Deming Public Schools.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Measday, parents, John and Inez Bliss Cook, sister, Sarah Louise Cook, and brother, Zenas D. Cook. She is survived by the Measday Family, nephew, James H. Cook and niece, Meredith Cook Field.
