Burtis Bowling Sharp, 63, of Martinsville, VA, died on Monday, August 20, 2012 in Deltaville, VA. Born on October 19, 1948 in Darby, PA, he was a son of the late Horace F. Sharp, Jr. and Eleanor Bowling Sharp. Mr. Sharp served in the U. S. Marine Corp. from January 1968 – August 1969 in the Vietnam Campaign. He retired from the Martinsville Police Department in 1998 as Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigations Division. Survivors include two sons, Karl M. Sharp and wife Amy of Martinsville and Jeffrey B. Sharp of Blacksburg, VA; friend, Patsy H. Hylton of the home; brothers, Horace F. Sharp III and Robert D. Sharp, both of Martinsville, and sister, Becky S. Pillis of Roanoke.
