Burt Anthony Mendez, 63, passed away early Sunday morning, July 19, 2020. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, he moved with his family to Miami in 1978. Burt worked for the Post Office as a letter carrier for thirty years before retiring in 2018. He fought a battle with prostate cancer for many years.
He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Katharine Guest Mendez, two children, Emily Joyce Mendez of New York City and George Pierce Mendez of Miami, his mother, Rita Mendez, a sister, Donna Mendez Myrill and three nieces, Erika Myrill of New York City, Theresa Myrill of Los Angeles and Sara Batu Baker of Austin, Texas. Burt is predeceased by his father, Keith Mendez and a brother, Keith (Barry) Mendez.
