DURHAM- Buddy Chrietzberg, 64, passed from his earthly life April 11 at his home. Buddy was born in Tokyo, Japan, August 29, 1948 to Camilla Landrum and Col. William D. Chrietzberg, Sr. Buddy grew up near several Army bases in the US and Oberammergau, Germany, until the family settled in Chapel Hill, N.C. He graduated from Chapel Hill HS in 1966 and earned a BS in Chemistry from UNC-CH in 1970, where he was a proud member of Kappa Alpha order. Buddy served as a medic in Vietnam, after which he had a successful career in sales management of textile dyes and chemicals, working for several global companies. He was a real artisan at gunsmithing and woodworking. He had a passion for history (especially WWII), sailing/wooden boats and for precisely building or fixing things. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph Chrietzberg. Survivors: wife of 33 years, Gloria Kaplan Chrietzberg, Durham; daughter, Emily Chrietzberg and fiancé, Rigo Gonzalez, Los Angeles; sister, Lois Chrietzberg, Chapel Hill; sister-in-law Aletha, niece Caitie, nephew Cody Chrietzberg of Willow Spring; sister & brother-in law, Sid and Nancy Kaplan Taylor, Social Circle, GA.
