Bryant Jennings Petty, Jr. 83 of 1096 Franklin Turnpike, Danville died Friday May 11, 2012 at Danville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 29, 1928 in Pittsylvania County to the late Bryant Jennings Petty, Sr. and the late Ethel Dix Petty. Mr. Petty was married to Edith Florine Doak Petty of the residence for fifty nine years. He was of the Baptist faith. While serving in Korea as a member of US Army he was awarded the Rifleman Badge, Korean service medal, two Bronze Stars, United Nations Service medal, Combat Infantry Badge and earned the Purple Heart. He also served in the Army Reserve for five years. After serving in the US Army he worked for Wicks Lumber for fifteen years and Times Fiber for ten years. He was a carpenter by trade. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons; Dennis Keith Petty and wife Sherrie of Burlington, NC and Jeffrey Lynn Petty and wife Mary of Poquoson, VA: two sisters Louise P. Corbin and Marie P. McKinney and husband John all of Danville: two grandchildren Jordan C. Petty and Bryan J. Petty.
