Hawks, Bruce A, 78 of Beacon, NY, died January 13, 2014 following a brief hospitalization at Vassar Bros. Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY. He was born at home in Beacon, NY and delivered by his sister Mary (sis) February 22, 1935. He was the son of the late William Henry Hawks Sr. and the late Viola May (Williams) Hawks. Bruce served his country in the US Air Force Active Duty from 1952-1956. He spent time in Guam during those 4 yrs. He was also in the Air Force Reserves from 1956-1960. He was a member of the Elks Club, in Beacon, NY. He was a parishioner of St. Luke’s Church, Beacon, NY. From 1962 until his retirement he was employed for the Beacon City School District. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with all his family, especially his 2 grandsons whom he loved more than life itself. He enjoyed taking long walks and socializing with people he would meet. Bruce’s favorite quote was ‘I did it my way’ ! Bruce is survived by his 2 sons Michael (Cathy) of Plattekill, NY and Alan Hawks of Chipley, Florida, 2 grandsons, Calvin and Cortland Hawks of Plattekill, NY. 2 brothers, Vance (Sonny) Hawks of Spring Hill, Florida and Vincent (Cookie) Hawks of Safety Harbour, Florida (whom he faithfully called every evening). A special nephew he was always close to like a brother Ronald (Rocky) Critelli Sr. Many other nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by three sisters Mary (sis) Critelli, Doris (Jane) Way, and Nancy (Morrill) Kiefer, and predeceased by three brothers Douglas Hawks, William (Bill) Hawks Jr. and Paul (Punchy) Hawks Sr.
