Bruce Gene Crompton

Austin, TX / Ogden – Bruce Gene Crompton peacefully passed away on December 29, 2013 from complications from a stroke.
Bruce was born to Martha Jane Owens and Val Gene Crompton on December 31, 1936 in Brigham City. He was raised in Brigham City, graduating from Box Elder High School and Utah State University. He also studied Interior Design in New York City.
Bruce served an LDS mission in Western Canadian. He married Gaylene Ruth McKinstry on July, 7, 1967 in Ogden.
He worked as an interior designer in Ogden, California and Salt Lake City as well as becoming an adjunct professor in Interior Design at Weber State University and instructing in the Ogden City Schools adult education program.
Bruce also had a passion for music and the arts, traveling in his younger years, with high school and university choirs. He sat on the board of WSU’s musical programs and loved to sing and entertain others with his talents.
He is survived by his son Tyler (Jamie) Crompton, Austin, TX; his step-brothers, Duke Baron, Brigham City; Dave (Melva) Baron, Brigham City; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Ron McKinstry, Phoenix, AZ; Jim (Margo) McKinstry, Kaysville; Mike (Vicki) McKinstry, Roy and three grandchildren Easton, Trey and Mia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gaye, step-brother Rex Baron and sister-in-law Judy McKinstry.
We would like to thank the great staff at Hearthstone Health Center in Austin, TX for their care of Bruce during the last few years.
