Bruce David Banta, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021, in Community Heart and Vascular Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1937, in Indianapolis to the late David and Constance (Lanning) Banta. He married the love of his life on November 8, 1963, Joanne Lippert Banta; she survives.
Bruce graduated from Straughn High School in 1955 and served honorably in the United States Army in the Military Police. He was an officer for the Indianapolis Police Department for 22 years, owned Banta Builders and worked for Robert’s Glass. Bruce was a member of the American Legion Post 355 and the F.O.P. Lodge 86.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joanne Lippert Banta; daughters, Rochelle Banta Tedder (Rob Tedder) and Jill Banta Smith (Kenneth Smith); grandchildren, Brandon Banta (Alyssa), Austin Smith (Kylee), Cameron Smith, Brett Richardson, Nolan Smith, Katelyn Tedder and Emily Tedder; and great-granddaughter, Brecklyn Banta.
