Bruce A. Armstrong, 59, of Pope County, IL and formerly of Virginia, IL passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Palm Terrace Nursing Home in Mattoon, IL.
He was born August 8, 1952 in Jacksonville, IL; the son of Alan Armstrong and Rojean Largent Armstrong Brockhouse. He was raised in Virginia and graduated from Virginia High School. He attended Eureka College and worked many years in the dredging industry. After retirement, he bought a farm in southern Illinois where he enjoyed the outdoors, his horses, and raising cattle. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia.
He is survived by his step father, Gene Brockhouse of Virginia; a daughter, Brandi Siders (husband, Cary) of Virginia; four brothers, Bob Armstrong (wife, Sharon) of Metropolis, Dave Armstrong of Lyndon Station, WI, Doug Armstrong (wife, Jane) of Kingsport, TN, and Ron Brockhouse (wife, Mary Ann) of Virginia; two sisters, Mary Wienhoff of Springfield and Leigh Ann Allen (husband, Tom) of Ashland; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rojean Brockhouse; father, Alan Armstrong; and his grandparents, Forrest and Mary Largent and Jep and Wilda Armstrong.
