STEM Brooklyn Shea Boone, 16, went peacefully to heaven on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
Brooklyn attended South Granville High School and was a Student of Merit and member of the National Honor Society. She was a competitive athlete and enjoyed playing volleyball and softball. Brooklyn loved spending time at the beach and fishing. She was a talented artist. Brooklyn was beautiful inside and out, with a compassionate heart and contagious smile.
At the age of 14, Brooklyn was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Her journey, “Brooklyn’s Miracle”, is a testament of courage, grace and unwavering faith. Cancer may have invaded her body, but it could not conquer her spirit. Brooklyn won her battle by claiming the victory of eternal life.
Brooklyn is survived by her parents, Bryan and Shelley Boone; her sister, Erica Danielle Boone; maternal grandparents, Morris and Cheryl Richardson of Creedmoor; paternal grandparents, Douglas and Linda Boone of Butner; maternal great-grandparents, Faye Jones of Creedmoor and Morris and Ruby Jones of Creedmoor; several aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly, and her beloved dog, Sophie. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, T. D. “Frosty” Williams.m. at First Baptist Church of Butner. Rev. Jonathan Barbee will officiate.

Brooklyn’s family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the medical staff at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX for the exceptional care she received during her illness. They are also forever grateful for the continuous outpouring of love, support and prayers that sustained them through this journey.
