Brita Maria Marrero (Nee Ammann)

Brita was born May 5, 1927, in Stuttgart Germany to the late Rolf and Margarete (Werle) Ammann.  Brita passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022; she was 95.

Brita came to the U.S. in 1947, and a year later met her future husband, Luis G. Marrero at the University of Dayton, Ohio.  They married in 1950 and would have been celebrating their 72nd anniversary on December 30th.

In the early years of her marriage she lived in Dayton, followed by 5 years in Mexico and 5 years in Puerto Rico where she learned Spanish.  She was fluent in 3 languages.  They eventually moved their family to the Akron area where they raised their 4 boys.

Brita loved the beautiful things in life: family, friends, gardening, traveling, reading & food.  She traveled several times to Europe, and South and Central America.

Her last few months were spent at Vitalia Montrose Active Adult Community, and in her last month she was compassionately cared for by Hospice of the Western Reserve.

She was a wonderful wife and mother.   She is survived by her husband Luis, and by her sons Luis B (Ursula), Erik (Debbie), Mike (Barb) and Karl (Marcia) and her sisters, Margaret Russ and Harriet Ammann. In addition, she is survived by her adored grandchildren Jason, Kristina, Christopher, Derek, Matthew and Carolyn.  She also has 8 great grandchildren, whom she treasured, Erik Alexander, Dominick, Haiden, Kaylie, Cameron and Brynn, Gabriel & Desmond.  She will be greatly missed by all those who knew & loved her.
