Bridget P. Sweeney passed away on January 25, 2015. Born in Newark, NJ, the daughter of Donegal, Ireland immigrants Hugh and Mary (Gallagher) Sweeney.
She attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School Newark, and St. Vincent’s Academy. She joined the WAC (Women’s Army Corp) during the Korean War. She was a charter and founding member of the Women of Irish Heritage, West Orange, and its Jersey Shore Chapter. She served as Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul’s Church in Irvington and at St. Dominic’s Church in Brick.
She was predeceased by her brothers Peter and Hughie and sister Ann Masterson.
Surviving are her sister Mary Hall of Belmar and Brother John of Lavallette. She was Aunt to many nieces and nephews and also great nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her close friends Marie Casillas and Marie Bock.
