SMITH – Brian T. Smith, 62, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, October 10, 2022, after enduring a battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Donna (Vogellus) Smith for 32 wonderful years. Born August 14, 1960 in Rostraver Township, PA; son of the late Philip and Margaret (Foster) Smith.
Brian was a foreman in commercial roofing, particularly skilled in metal fabrication. An outdoor enthusiast, Brian was also a member of the Old Newgate Coon Club of Norfolk where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with good friends and his beloved dog, BB. He took pride in his home, caring meticulously for his house, yard, garden, and vehicles. Decades after leaving PA, Brian still remained a devoted Steelers fan.
Many friends remember Brian as being full of life, a true friend who was generous with his time. Brian was tirelessly dedicated to his family and is already deeply missed by all who love him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his cherished children, Phil Smith and wife Tori of Harwinton with a grandchild on the way, Sarah Smith and companion Joe Aniki of Torrington and Josh Smith of New Hartford; siblings, Sara Phillips and husband Larry of TX, LaVerne Cozakos and husband Gary of TX, Frances Bujanowski of PA, Maggie McAlister and husband Bertram of PA, Debbie Steinmeyer of PA, Tina Traweek and husband Alan of LA and Stuart Smith and wife Chris of TX; several nieces and nephews, many cousins and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Chesney Smith, and a nephew, Thomas Phillips.
