Brian L. Lamps, 70, of Peru, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 11, 2015 at 2:25 PM at UnityPoint Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

Mr. Lamps was born in Mendota on July 28, 1945 to Everett and Frances (Urish) Lamps.  He graduated from LPO Junior College and went on to found and operate Lamps Home Improvement for over 40 years.  His other lifelong passion was farming in Dimmick and Waltham, where he enjoyed working with his sons.

He served in the U.S. National Guard for over 5 years and then married his courageous spouse, Mary J. Twait on March 29, 1969.  Together they raised 3 sons and taught them the value of hard work and the importance of being a mentor.  He enjoyed coaching his boys’ baseball teams, teaching them the love of the outdoors, and becoming an amazing grandfather who rarely missed a game or school program.  Brian also cherished his family’s fishing trips.

As a longtime member of St.

He is survived by his devoted wife Mary of Peru; three sons Corey (Angie) Lamps, Matt (Kimberly) Lamps, and Brian M. (Amanda) Lamps all of Peru; five grandchildren Katelyn, Caden, Brandon, Alex, and Lauren; one brother Bruce (Bev) Lamps of Peru; his forever buddy and protector Oliver; several nieces and nephews; and his extended IVCH therapist family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Craig Lamps.
