Brett David Rodriguez, age 24, our most beloved son, brother, and grandson passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 14, 2019. Brett was born on June 26, 1995 to David Rodriguez and Cheri Warren. He was a native of Albuquerque, NM, where he lived out his short life. Brett had many beautiful and unique qualities. He was a sensitive, deep-thinking intellect as well as a gentle, easy-going spirit. Many that knew him, referred to him as a “gentle giant.”
Brett was blessed with the language of imagery, a literary talent that was evidenced in writings he composed. He enjoyed the simpler things in life. He loved listening to his music and found solace in nature, especially fishing. In 2013, Brett graduated from the Early College Academy with honors. He was recognized as a National Hispanic Scholar and awarded a full scholarship to the University of New Mexico. Many were in awe of his academic achievements, as well as his remarkable ability to make everything he accomplished look so easy. Prior to his death, he was completing his degree in Computer Networking.
Brett will be dearly missed by his father, David Rodriguez, mother Cheri Warren and step-father Kevin, big brother Tyler Rodriguez (Dominique); grandparents George and Stella Rodriguez, grandpa Jim Barth; aunties Christine and Gina Rodriguez; many great aunts and uncles, cousins, friends; his bird Sunny, and his dog Zeus. Brett was preceded in death by his grandma Kathy and step-grandma Kat; great grandparents, Ramon and Anne Serna, Sol and Ruth Barth.
