Braunda Short died peacefully in her Paradise Valley home on July 19, 2011. She was born March 29, 1921 ‘six miles west’ as Braunda Mae Conn, daughter of Melrose, Oregon pioneers, Roscoe and Ethel Conn. Braunda was an active business partner of Stanley E. Short, her husband of 55 years prior to his death, with whom she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1957. Together, they were realtors and developers at the beginning of Scottsdale’s early growth and later instrumental in founding Village Inn Pizza Parlors. She enjoyed her friends and family, by whom she was respected and adored, golf, hunting and was an avid sports fan. Her son, Rex C. Short, survives her along with her brother, Imrie Conn of Roseburg, Oregon, grandchildren, Kelli Borges, Jennifer Davis and Cody Short, and great grandchildren, Elle, Taylor and Jennifer, all of Phoenix, Arizona. Her sister, Teresa Lehrbach of Bellevue, Washington, preceded her in death.
