Alice F. Book, 88 of Albers, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. She was born July 17, 1922 in St. Rose, daughter of Frank and Catherine (Norrenberns) Usselmann. She married Raymond George Book on May 27, 1941 in Albers and he preceded her in death on June 18, 1961.
She is survived by her children, James (Kathy) Book of Breese, Patricia (Leo) Litteken of Albers, Jean Book of Chesterfield, MO, Mary (Ken) Kapp of Highland, Judy Friederich of Belleville, Dorothy “Dee” Porter of Fairview Heights, Marge Becker of Marine, Kathy (Gervase) Ottensmeier of Highland, Bill (Donna) Book of Trenton, Ruth (Randy) Hudson of Annada, MO, Rick (Linda) Book of Breese, Victor (Phyllis) Book of Albers, and Donna Rae Netemeyer of Waterloo; 36 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; brothers & sisters, Erwin Usselmann of New Baden, Frances Wuebbels of Germantown, Robert (Betty) Usselmann of Aviston, Frank (Rita) Usselmann of Breese, Louis Usselmann of Belleville, Greg (Anna Marie) Usselmann of St. Louis, MO, Rose Kraft of Breese and Rita Macke of Breese; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Norbert “Ally” Altgilbers of Albers, Mary “Snooky” Book Loepker of Albers, Adele Gerling of Germantown, Marie Lager of Albers, and Tom & Vickie Book of Belleville.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one grandchild and 2 great- grandchildren, a son-in-law, Don Becker; a sister, Mary Agnes Usselmann; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Melvin Wuebbels, Mary Usselmann, Floyd Kraft, Leo Macke, Ferd & Bernice Book, Agnes “Aggie” Altgilbers, Benedict “Dick” Book, Lawrence & Martha Book, Marcella M. and Linus H. “Fuzzy” Vosholler, Eleanor & Leander Voss, Ervin Gerling, Bernadine & Leroy Haake, and Andy Lager; and her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Benedict & Anna Book. Mrs. Book was a seamstress for garment factories in Mascoutah, Collinsville and Highland.
She was a volunteer for the Albers American Legion Auxiliary activities, a PSR teacher for St. Bernard Parish and she also quilted. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Altar Sodality, Daughters of Isabella Precious Blood Circle 718, Associates of Precious Blood of Ruma, a member and former president of the American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary and a former member of ILGWU. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
