1943 – 2020

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend, Bobbie Jean Hood Daniels, 77, passed away July 26, 2020. Bobbie Jean was born January 26, 1943 in McGhee, Arkansas to Jennie Vaughn and John Archie Hood Jr.  She married Willie B. Daniels Jr. on April 16, 1965 and their union was blessed with two daughters; they later divorced. She was raised in Ogden Utah graduating from Ogden High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Weber State University.

She worked for the Forest Service, Internal Revenue Service and WalMart before working 40 years for the Ogden Area Community Action Agency.

Bobbie Jean cherished spending time with her family, she especially enjoyed traveling with them. She loved cooking, yard sales, gardening and kept a beautiful yard.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings (Bereatha Weatherspoon, Elnezer Hood).

She is survived by her daughters Leslye (Ruel) Olsen and Stephanie Vallejo; only grandson Omarion Vallejo; her siblings Bernice DeChant, Odell (Lina) Hood, Roberta Williams, Doris Douglas, Helen Hood, Alvin (Jodie) Hood, brother and sister-in-law Debra and Tony Daniels, and  a host of nieces and nephews.

The foundation of her life was serving her loving God Jehovah. She was a faithful sister, regular at her congregation meetings and active in preaching the good news of God’s Kingdom to those in her community, Matthew 28:19,20. She was convinced of Jehovah’s promise to resurrect all those in his unfailing memory. John 5:28,29

This poem is dedicated to you mom. I love you with all my heart. Written by Stephanie Daniels on November 13, 1988.

Why I Love You
I just wanted you to know that I love you very, very much.
You are so kind and you have the gentlest touch.
You’ve made me well again when I was feeling bad.
And even though I’ve gotten upset at you I could never stay mad.
You’ve picked me up when I have fallen and dried my tears.
You’ve comforted me and always calmed my fears.
You stuck by me even when I was being unkind.
You have never lied to me but you always told me what was on your mind.
You brought me into this world and took care of me until now.
You have did everything you could and I don’t know how.
We always knew you loved us no matter how upset you got.
And I hope you know that I appreciate you a whole heck of a lot.
Even though I don’t seem like I always do.
There is nothing in the world I wouldn’t do for you.
And you have always given me most of the things I asked for.
Your are all a person could ask for and even more.
I have asked for your advice and you have always given it to me.
Even though I didn’t like it sometimes I knew how truthful I could be.
They say wisdom comes with age and you have taught me well.
I’m trying to make you proud of me, I hope you can tell.
You’ve made me smile whenever I was blue.
If something ever happened to you I wouldn’t know what to do.
I cherish you and I just wanted you to know
That you are so very special to me, but I just haven’t told you so.
I write this poem to show you that I appreciate all you do.
And also I just wanted you to know why I’ll always need and always love you.
