Those left to honor Dean’s memory are his daughter, Linda Desplanque of Newton; son, Harold Dean (Alicia) Boothe of Newton; his 3 grandchildren, Gary (MaryAnn) Etter of Newton; Mary Ann Boothe; and Andy Boothe of Newton; 4 great-grandchildren, Cody Etter, Alexis Etter, Sierra Etter, and Andrew Boothe; his brother, Dwaine (Imogene) Boothe of Chariton, Iowa; 2 sisters, Wilma Wagaman of West Burlington, Iowa and Iris Pierce of Seattle, Washington; and his many niees and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; his 3 brothers, Kenneth, Howard, and Loyd; and sister, Evelyn.

Dean had been a farmer prior to being a self-employed carpenter in Newton for 44 years, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the Red Rock Coon Hunters Association, Izaak Walton League, and UKC Kennel Club.
