Bobbie “Bob” L. Johnson, 79 years of age, of Harbine, passed away Wednesday July 12, 2017 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. He was born on November 10, 1937 in Hurst-Bush, Illinois to Elmer and Clara (Prater) Johnson. After attending part of his senior year in high school, Bob served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Doreen Slater on June 13, 1957 in Lincoln. Bob was a “master of all trades” and worked several jobs that included owning a truck driving business, construction and working at Peterson’s Manufacturing in DeWitt. He was a member of the American Legion, Roaming Volunteers In Christ, Christian Motorcycle Association and the Beatrice Speedway Hall of Fame.

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doreen; 2 daughters, Mary Johnson-Rowell of Lincoln, Bobbi Johnson-Riesen of Pickrell; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gracie Rammel of Fairfield, California, June Clark of Huntsville, Alabama; 2 brothers, Henry Johnson and wife Joyce, Michael “Joe” Johnson and wife Dixie, both of Beatrice; 4 sisters-in-law, Melva Jean Hartshorne of Lincoln, Joanne Slater of Cody, Wyoming, Arlene Tyler and husband Phil of Zavalla, Texas, Wauneta McKnight of Dorchester; brother-in-law, John and Cathy Slater of Nebraska City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory; grandson, Dillon Johnson; 2 brothers, Velmer and Don; brother-in-law, Bob Slater; and sister-in-law, Iona Richardson.
