Barbara (Bobbi) A. Downs, 81, died peacefully Sat. April 14, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA. Bobbi was born April 10, 1937 to Harry and Katherine Pyne Downs in PA; after her Army service moved to VA where she lived for most of her life. She is survived by her life partner of 34 years, Shelia Carter Barr of Winchester, VA. Bobbi is also survived by her brother Stanley (Bud) (Sandy) Downs of Bunker Hill, WV, brother-in-law Harry (Karen) Carter of Manassas, VA, sister-in-law Daniele Michael of Manassas, VA, special friend Susie Berthaut of King William, VA, nephews Gary (Lauri) Michael of Woodbridge, VA, Bill Michael of Manassas, VA and Michael Carter of Marshall, VA, nieces Kammie (Joe) Owolabi of Detroit, MI and Karissa Bingham of Stafford, VA, grand-nephew William Michael III of Blacksburg, VA, grandchildren Elizabeth Barr of Winchester, VA and Cody (Beth) Barr, Middletown, VA and great-grandchildren Keylie Zellmann of Winchester, VA, Virginia and William Barr of Middletown, VA, numerous cousins in Clarke County and Marie Thompson of Knoxville, MD. Bobbi served in the Army at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX as an army medic. After her Army service Bobbi relocated to Virginia where she played on several softball leagues. She worked for Clark Motors for 20 years and drove cars for Stateline Auction. Bobbi loved driving and later in life drove for a medical lab between area hospitals, airports and doctors’ offices. Bobbi watched and supported local Special Olympics competitions in numerous sports. She loved to ride on motorcycles with her friend Susie. Bobbi and Shelia traveled the US and cruised to Ireland and England.
