Bob Walker Sandlin, 60, a beloved father, husband, and friend passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was born November 6, 1954 in Hamilton, AL to Fred Coleman Sandlin & Mary Alice Ayers Sandlin. Bob grew up in Hamilton, Alabama and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and a Master’s Degree from Jacksonville State University where he was a graduate assistant coach. He was a coach and teacher at Hamilton High School, East Coweta High School, Henry County High School and recently retired from Newnan High School after 25 years. His love of sports and young people endeared him to many in Coweta County either coaching or volunteering with community sports. He and his family are longtime members of the First Baptist Church of Newnan. Survivors include wife, Pam Gordon Sandlin; children, Mary Elizabeth (Justin) Crews, Laura Sandlin (fiancee, Burt Horton), Bob Walker Sandlin, Jr.; mother, Mary Alice Sandlin; brother, Fred Coleman (Gloria) Sandlin, Jr.; sisters, Nancy Martin, Judy (John) Bentley; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
