Blair J. Decker, a resident of Bensalem, PA, passed away Monday, October 29th at his home with his beloved wife of 59 years by his side; he was 81 years of age. Born in New Florence, PA, he moved to New Jersey, attended Burlington City High School and graduated Class of 1950. Blair was selected to Burlington’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. While in high school he starred in baseball but excelled in football which helped take the time to win the state championship in 1949. He earned All County and All South Jersey 1st Team honors and was the recipient of the Brooks-Irwin Memorial Football Club Award. He attended Rider College on a football scholarship but an injury cut his college football career short. Being a sports enthusiast his passion was playing golf.

A member of the Burlington County Country Club for over 25 years he was also a former member of the Masonic Lodge, the Elks, the Moose and the Oneida Boat Club. On October 23, 1953 he married the love of his life, Josephine Carugno. He was a member of the Burlington City Police Department for 8 years and then became manager of Ted Rapp Pontiac in Cinnaminson working there for 20 years. Throughout the years Blair also worked at several other automobile dealerships before retiring and becoming security supervisor at the Roebling Steel Plant in Florence for 16 years until his recent illness. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Irene Decker, and his two brothers, Melvin and Jay Decker. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Josephine “Judy” (nee Carugno) Decker, his children and spouses: Lorraine (Dwight) Meredith of Bensalem, PA, son Ronald (Lisa) Decker of Georgia, Richard and Thomas both of Florida. Also surviving are his sister Jerri Black of Windber, PA, eight grandchildren: Michelle (Ronald), Paul (Brittany), Eric (Shannon), Timothy, Brittany, Loretta, Brian and Hayley, 2 great-grandchildren; Ryan and Malina and his brother in law; Edward Carugno.
