Billy Joe Higgins, 80, passed away September 16, 2014 surrounded by loved ones in Canon City, CO. The son of Lowell and Irene Higgins, he was born March 1, 1934 in Villisca, Iowa. Bill grew up and attended school in Griswold, Iowa, graduating from Griswold High School. After graduation, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict, 1953-1957. He was assigned to the Strategic Air Command where he was in charge of the cameras in the planes and developing film. Bill was united in marriage to Patricia Hopkins on June 5, 1954. After his discharge from the USAF, Bill and Patricia moved to Omaha, where he attended electronics school. In 1961, they moved to Canon City, where he worked at B & G Appliance.
