Billy Granville Flesher, age 78, of McGraw Ave., Grafton, left us, Saturday, August 14, 2010, to spend his eternal life with the Lord. He was born to the late Homer Brooks and Lenna Bessie (Dodd) Flesher, January 24, 1932, in Ritchie County, Pennsboro, WV, the seventh of nine children. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Gladys “Andi” (Alexander) Pomraning Flesher.
Bill never met a stranger, and he had the gift of relating to people of all walks of life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke. He had a unique charm that left those he met with a remarkable fondness for him. He was the pillar of his family and will be greatly missed by his wife and five children: John R. Pomraning and wife Brenda, of Grafton, Teresa L. Faulkiner and husband Steve, of Grafton, Billy D. Flesher and wife Tammie, of Bridgeport, Leslie M. “Lec” Flesher and wife Kimberly, of Grafton, and Richard Brooks Flesher and wife Carolyn, of Grafton; ten grandchildren, Kurtis and Erin Pomraning, both of Grafton, Stephanie Faulkiner, of Grafton, Sarah Ford and husband Brian, of Bridgeport, Courtney Flesher, of Bridgeport, Jed Flesher, of Bridgeport, Hillary Riffle and husband Brian, of Grafton, Derek Setler and wife Stacey, of Grafton, Eli Flesher and fiancé Jaime Wagner, of Pisgah, WV, and Jack Flesher, of Grafton; four great grandchildren ; one brother, Richard Dick Flesher, of Weirton, WV; three sisters, Rosella Hileman, of Pennsboro, WV, Jean Jones, of Greenwood, WV, and Maxine Hardman, of Parkersburg, WV; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: three brothers, Lewis Flesher, Homer Flesher, Joe Flesher, and one sister, Betty Cumpston.
Bill spent his life traveling this country as an over-the-road truck driver for more than 60 years. As a member of the Brotherhood of Teamsters, he worked for various companies. He was in every state in the continental United States, Canada and Mexico. He retired from Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 697. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War and traveled in thirteen countries. He enjoyed country music and liked to go to Tolley’s Country Music on Friday nights. He was a member of the VFW Memorial City Post #3081.
