Billie Lee Scherer, age 77, of Cicero, IN died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at his home. He was born February 20, 1933 at Cicero, Indiana to Frank M. and Catherine W. (Wyss) Scherer.
He was a graduate of Jackson Central High School Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was employed as an industrial engineer at Western Electric at Indianapolis for thirty years, retiring in 1985. During that time he also served on the Cicero Volunteer Fire Department that later became the Cicero Fire Department. For 38 years he was the Fire Chief and now is Fire Chief Emeritus.
He is a member of International Association of Fire Chiefs, Indiana Fire Chiefs Association, and the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association.
