Bill Cox Bivins, Sr. age 85, of Birmingham, AL passed away on March 30, 2011. Born to John and Eula Bivins in Meridian, MS on June 2, 1925. Moved to Birmingham, AL when he was 4 yrs. old. Was the youngest of 9 nine children. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School. He then served in the 194th General Hospital in England, France and Belgium during WWII as a medic. He married the most beautiful girl he had ever seen and the love of his life, Virginia Belle Bateman on Nov. 12th, 1950. He was the manager for Barber’s Dairy in Brewton, AL for 12 years. There he sang in the choir and served on the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church. Also served as President of the Civitan Club of Brewton. He moved back to Birmingham and worked for Royal Cup Coffee for about 25 yrs. He was a member of the Huffman United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, and Zamora Temple. Predeceased in death by his parents, 7 brothers, and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 60 yrs, Virginia Bivins, daughter, Regina Freeman (Jef), son, Bill Bivins, Jr. (Carolyn), grandchildren, Joe Freeman, John Freeman (Ashley), Rebecca Freeman, Billy Bivins, III (Stephanie), and Jacob Bivins; and a brother, Lee Bivins.
