Beverly Jean Leatherman, 73, of Marseilles, formerly of Ottawa, passed away June 26 at her home surrounded by her family.
Beverly was born February 15, 1937 at home in South Ottawa Township to Guy and Etta Mae (Fleetwood) Applebee. She married Ronald Staple, Sr. in June 1955. He passed in March of 2000. She married Melvin Leatherman on September 28, 1962. He passed in November 24, 1986. She dedicated her career to nursing. She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Nicklin of Ottawa, Sarah Thomas of Courpus Christi, Texas and Shelly (Dave) Couch of Ottawa; one son, Ron Staple, Jr. of Fredrick, Maryland; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guy Elias (Joy) Applebee, Jr. of Quincy, Indiana and Glenn E. (Janet) Applebee of Ottawa; one sister, Anna (Alex) Muir of Ottawa; and her little yorkie, PeeWee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ronald; second husband, Melvin; a son, Lester Leatherman; a granddaughter, Natalie Leatherman; two nephews, Alex Muir and William Guy Applebee; best friend, Mickey Fuller and Hunkey.
