Those left to honor Bettye’s memory are her son, E. Douglas “OT” Overturf of Des Moines, Iowa; and her daughter, Shari (Ray) Van Baale of Newton; two grandchildren, Rachael Dickneite and Joanna Downing; her two great-grandchildren, Paige Van Baale and Carter Downing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Bertie RaNew and two sisters, Thelma Glanton and Vernice Pendley.
Bettye was a graduate of Calhoun High School in Calhoun, Georgia
Bettye has lived in Newton since 1949. She worked in the office of United Telephone Company and then for GTE, both in Newton.
Bettye enjoyed being with her family, watching old movies, and doing cross word puzzles.
