Betty Von Amendt, 83, of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at her home after an extended illness.
She was born April 20, 1927, in the scenic mountain area of Falls View, W. Va., which she loved so much, to Ronald R. “Ronnie” and Jessie K. (Naylor) Huddleston.
Surviving are her son, Ron (Laverne) Johnson of Elkhart, and her daughters, Connie (Jim) Weaver of Bristol and Deb Wise and Cami Amendt, both of Elkhart. Also left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Nancy (Dale) Christian of Ripley, W. Va., and Sandra Weaver of Cottonwood, Ariz.; her five grandchildren, Kristen (Ken) Greengard, Patrick (Christine) Weaver, Rochelle “Suz” Bock, Shawn (Vickie) Overholster and Jennifer (Rick) Huskey; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her former husbands, Joseph Johnson, who died in 1959, and Richard Amendt, who died in 2003; a sister, June Martini; a grandson, Joe Johnson; and a son-in-law, Ron Wise.
Betty was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She sacrificed much to give what she could to those she loved. She will be greatly missed. She was a proud member of Northside Baptist Church in Elkhart and enjoyed visiting with other members of her congregation.
