Betty Jean Stewart Smallwood Morris departed this life on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at EAMC Lanier Nursing Home where she had been a resident for several years.

Betty was born to Allen and Jesse Stewart in Rock Mills, Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Bennie Frank Alsabrook, Willie Fred (Buck) Smallwood and Hugh Morris.   She was also preceded in death by brothers, Roy Gherson Stewart and wife, Bettie Lee, and Calvin Jackson Stewart. 

Betty attended Southern Union Community College, Graduated Perry Business School and attended various ABI Banking Courses.  She had worked in banking for over 62 years prior to her retirement.  She last served as Vice President in public relations and assisted with the Golden Opportunity Club at Valley National Bank.  Prior to that she was a loan officer at Citizens National Bank and American Finance.  Through her contact with the public she had a wide network of friends and always treated her customers as family.

As long as her health permitted, Betty served on the Administrative Board and other Boards of the Plant City Methodist Church. She was on the Board of Directors for Valley Haven School and Valley Haven Foundation, had served on United Fund Board, Volunteered for American Heart Assn and for Knights of Columbus fundraising on behalf of Valley Haven.

Although she had no children, she was a grandmother to Buck’s grandchildren, Tracy and Kathie.

 She was preceded in death by brothers, Roy Gherson Stewart and wife Bettie Lee, and Calvin Jackson Stewart.  She leaves to cherish her memory brothers, Jimmy Jerrell Stewart and wife, Johanne, Jerry Stewart and wife, Sheila and sister-in-law, Annette Stewart.  She counted her many nieces and nephews and their children as her own and was the center of the family activities prior to failing health.
