Betty S. (Orlandi) Newhalfen, 95, of Dalzell, passed away Tuesday evening, July 13, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born September 11, 1925 in Spring Valley, IL to Dominic and Dorothy (Boggio) Orlandi.
She graduated the LaSalle School of Beauty Culture and owned and operated Beauty Shop in Dalzell. Betty was a secretary at Libby Owens Ford in Ottawa for 30 years until retirement in September 1988.
She also worked as a welder at Douglas Aircraft during WWII. She married Eldon “Hocka” Stegen on November 1, 1942 and he passed away May 17, 1955. On January 13, 1962, Betty married Harold “Coby” Newhalfen who passed away on January 31, 2013. Betty was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Dalzell and the Altar and Rosary Society. Betty enjoyed traveling, dancing and loved to play cards and BINGO with her sister Gloria.
She is survived by her loving sister and care taker, Gloria Orlandi of Dalzell.She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Eldon; second husband, Harold and a son, Eldon James in 1944. Pallbearers will be Jerry Neuhalfen, Gary Lee Orlandi, Scott Orlandi, Dominic M. Orlandi, Tyler Orlandi, and Luke Orlandi.
