Betty R. Smith Telford 94, of Centralia, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at Fireside Nursing home in Centralia due to complications from Covid-19.
Betty was born January 2, 1926 in Centralia, the daughter of Christ Andrew Friend and Mollie (Sorensen) Friend. She married William A. Smith and he preceded her in death in 1972. She then married Robert O. Smith and he preceded her in death in 19¬¬85. She later married Raymond Telford and they later divorced.
Survivors include one son: Steven Smith and wife Charlene of Centralia; eight grandchildren: Chris Smith and wife Rachel of St. Charles, MO, Jennifer Moll and husband Justin of Bridgeton, MO, Jeremy McClain and wife Kathy of Centralia, Jodie Tellefsen and husband Frank of Centralia, Shawn Smith and wife Maria of West Bend, Wisconsin, Scott Smith and wife Holly of Grand Rivers, KY, Dana Gowler and husband Travis of Mt. Vernon, and Melinda Smith of Flora; eight great grandchildren: Blade Tellefsen, Bradden Tellefsen, Elle McClain, Hesleigh and Raegan Smith, Lydia Smith, Chase and Sadie Gowler.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Christ and Mollie Friend; son: Randy Smith; daughter: Debbie McClain; three infant siblings: Mildred, Ernie, and George Friend.
Betty was a lifelong member of the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Centralia. She worked for Centralia Savings and Loan for several years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She also had several miniature poodles throughout her life.
