Betty Rainer Sala
Betty R. Sala (Mosley), 84, passed peacefully on February 16, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was met at the pearly gates of Heaven by her husband of 47 years, Frank J. Sala, Jr. Betty was born June 9, 1932 in Sharon, PA to her parents, Col. John E. Mosley and Eloise Mosley. She graduated high school in Frankfort, Germany. Betty earned her bachelor’s degree in microbiology at the Kansas State College where she was a member of the Kappa Phi Delta sorority. In her 40’s she returned to school and earned her Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Northern Colorado.
After college, Betty moved to Chicago, Illinois where she met the man of her dreams, Frank. They were married on May 7, 1961. They had 47 wonderful years together and shared millions of memories, adventures, smiles, and kisses. They set the benchmark of a perfect union. In March of 1962, Betty and Frank moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be closer to her parents and start their family.
Betty relished motherhood but also excelled in her careers as the laboratory director at the El Paso County Health Department, and owner/operator of her two dress stores, Panache and Panache En Plus of Cherry Creek. She also served as CEO and later President of A & M Investments.
Betty received her single engine pilot’s license in her early 20’s and really enjoyed traveling. She was interested in fishing, quilting, genealogy, bridge, blackjack, and her Broncos. Betty was most excited and proud of her grandchildren’s amazing talents in music, horsemanship, and academics. She would attend many parades, rodeos, and recitals. Her grandchildren, Amanda Hensen [Joe], Kayla Summers [TJ], and Dalton Sala are devastated by the loss of one of their greatest champions. Grandma Betty was so very fond of each and every one of them.
Cherished memories of Betty will be carried forth by her children Robert Sala, Suzanne Summers (Sala), John Sala [Ni], David Sala [Mei-Ling] as well as her sister-in-law Patricia Hyland [John] and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Our family has lost its foundation, keeper of all things comforting, and confidante. The world has lost an example of what a true woman should be.
Betty was welcomed into her new life by those who passed before her. Her husband, parents, parents in-law Frank Sala, Sr., Helen Sala (Zych), brother Dr. Hugh Charles Rawls, sister in-law Shirley Rawls, sister Margeret “Peg” Gray (Mosley), sister in-law Jeanette Lassa (Sala), sister in-law Millie Soderberg (Sala), brother in-law Richard Soderberg, and niece Janet Hyland greeted her with open arms and hearts.
We will love, honor, and miss you every day Mom.
