Betty Lowery, 89, passed away peacefully and went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. She is survived by her son, Scot and wife Trish; granddaughter, Morgan; and was preceded in death by her husband Duane in 2011. She was born in Mt. Vernon, IL, and moved to Albuquerque after marrying Duane in 1947. She and Duane started their family in Santa Fe, and also lived in Farmington for several years before returning to Albuquerque. She was primarily a homemaker while Scot was young, but later worked in both the Farmington and Albuquerque Public Schools until her retirement. Betty was always active in her local church, and was a founding member of First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque, where she was also an active participant in the Golden Girls, the church quilting group who made crib and lap quilts for anyone in need.
