Obituary of Betty Lou Rombalski

Rombalski, Betty Lou, of Saginaw, age 95 passed away early Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018 at Great Lakes Rehab Center. Betty was born April 4, 1923 in Saginaw, MI the daughter of Leslie and Lula (Fobear) Ellsworth. She was united in marriage to Joseph Rombalski; he preceded her in death on September 11, 2003.
Betty was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Her father, Leslie Ellsworth was one of the founding members of Holy Family Catholic Church, having come from Canada and settling in Saginaw. Betty was born in a house on Birch St. in Saginaw. Then as an adult she bought the house and lived there for over 50 years. She was a talented artist and had many artistic talents. Betty was a skilled seamstress and created beautiful clothes, costumes, draperies, flags and even vestments for the church. She went back to night school to get her high school diploma in 1976. Betty then went on to get a job with Dr. Martin Massa as a receptionist. She worked in his office until her mid-70’s when she retired.
Betty had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a lively game of euchre up until the last month of her life. She took up painting and painted beautiful pictures for her daughters and grandchildren. Mom loved chocolate and her refrigerator had a drawer filled with treats at all times. Our mother spoiled each and every one of us with gifts and lots of love. You could call her day or night and she would be there to help in any way. Betty was beautiful, talented and loving. Her children are grateful for her sense of humor and her special talents. She was one special lady and will be missed dearly.
Betty is survived by her two loving daughters, Dianne (Bill) Jahr of Freeland, MI and Mary Jo (Tim) McManus of Saginaw, MI; seven grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Baczkiewicz, Lisa (Dale) Marzewski, Stacie (Darcy), Shawn (Andrew) and Matt (Christina) Dubay and Courtney and Emily McManus; six great-grandchildren, Ben and Chris Marzewski, Nickolas and Viktoria Baczkiewicz, Avienda Dubay and another great-grandbaby due in April.
Besides her husband, Joseph, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Baczkiewicz and a great-grandson, Russell Meehan.
Betty’s family would like to give a heartfelt Thank You for all the love and care to the following people: St. Mary’s Hospital, 5th Floor nurses and staff, Reverence Hospice, Great Lakes Rehab Center and Dr. Naveed Mahfooz.
