Dublin: Betty Lou Riggs,77 of Dublin, went to be with our creator on Saturday May 7, 2011 in Richmond, Indiana. The daughter of the late Lawerence and Lena (Underhill) Lindley, Betty was born on November 4, 1933 in Ed Couch TX. Betty was a graduate of Hagerstown High School with the class of 1951. Betty became the wife of Firman Riggs and a mother on a farm where she sold chicken eggs to buy her first washer. She lost a bet to her husband on their third child, that he could get a bull if the child was a girl.
Betty was a well known realtor, farm and land broker. In 1981, while working in Indiana and Pennsylvania, Betty became the first woman to be elected to the National Farm and Land Insitute Indiana Chapter #24. Betty was also very active in her community, acting as Jackson Township Trustee for many years. Her compassion for others, helped many families with food and assistance with their needs. Betty blessed many homes.

Surviving relatives include 4 children, Max Riggs ( Chere), Joe Riggs (Gail), Rebecca Jobe -Selkirk (Bill) and James Riggs (Dana); 9 grandchildren, Joshua Riggs, Erin Riggs, Jama Jobe-McCartney, Brandon, Derrick, Jamen, Nathan, Ryan and Nicholas Riggs; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Harriet Burroughs and LeAnn Kemmelgore; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Lindley; niece, Joy Burroughs – Brandenburg; grandson, Brian Jobe.
